The model, available in the Burlington Arcade store for men and women is characterized by its juxtaposed colours. Every single pair will be numbered, to underline the exclusivity of this project for the games.

CHURCH’S “STRATFORD” A SYMBOL OF INNOVATION AND TRADITION

“Church’s”, the historic English luxury footwear brand founded in Northampton in 1873, owes its success not only to the excellence and quality of its materials and workmanship, but also, and above all, to its innovation.

This is the case with the “Stratford” model, expressly styled for the games. The model, available for men and women is characterized by certain extremely refined stylistic devices and innovations and by the skilled balancing of the juxtaposed colours. It will in fact be developed in 17 different chromatic variants with a fun alternation between the upper, the sole and the welt.

The typically informal design and the Goodyear Welted construction, since always the primary part of Church’s know-how, give the style an innovative and, at the same time sporty touch.

The “Stratford” style will be available in all the colour combinations Every single pair will be numbered, to underline the exclusivity of this project for the games.

Church’s was established in 1873 in Northampton and is a world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of high-end men’s and women’s footwear. Since 1999 it is part of the PRADA Group which now holds 100% of Church’s capital.

LINLEY launches a seasonal shop in the Burlington Arcade

July 2012 sees the launch of British design company LINLEY’s seasonal shop at 41 Burlington Arcade. In addition to the flagship store on Belgravia’s Pimlico Road and the Mayfair store on Albemarle street, 41 Burlington Arcade will be the ideal venue to showcase LINLEY’s unique gifts and accessories collection.

The store will be open during the Olympics and the run up to Christmas when the Arcade anticipates visitors from all over the world.

David Linley comments: ‘I am thrilled to have the opportunity of showcasing LINLEY products in the Burlington Arcade during a time which is very exciting for London. The Burlington Arcade is one of my favourite London destinations and in every way quintessentially British. I have always taken such pleasure walking through it and looking at all the treasures within. I am proud that our shop will be alongside some great British brands and designers and it is our hope that it will become a permanent feature of the Arcade’.

The shop will sell LINLEY’s gift and accessories collection which includes photograph frames, jewellery boxes, humidors, candles and stocking fillers of a superlative quality, hand-crafted in Britain to exacting standards.

LONDON COLLECTIONS: MEN

15th June 2012: In recognition of the inaugural London Collections: Men, the bespoke tailors of Savile Row and the gentlemen’s requisites houses of the Burlington Arcade will co-host a cocktail reception for the British fashion industry, international press and the historic houses in Mayfair, Piccadilly and St. James’s who have dressed the world’s most elegant men for centuries.

Savile Row meets the Burlington Arcade will begin at 4pm when the bespoke tailors of Savile Row open their showrooms and workshops to invited guests. In addition to the Savile Row open house, each of the tailors will be showing a bespoke garment cut in fine quality lightweight wool to showcase the Woolmark Company’s Cool Wool campaign. These models will be displayed in all of the Savile Row tailors’ windows. Houses participating include:

Anderson & Sheppard, Anthony Sinclair, Chester Barrie with Edward Sexton, Davies & Son, Dege & Skinner, Gieves & Hawkes, Henry Poole & Co, Huntsman, Norton & Sons, Richard Anderson and Welsh & Jefferies.

Savile Row and the Burlington Arcade are honoured to be taking delivery of a collection of vintage and new model Maserati sports cars supplied by HR Owen, the UK’s leading luxury car retailer, that will be on show on the Row and outside the arcade. Maserati’s elegant heritage cars and ultra-modern current models will sit perfectly on the Row, reflecting the streets’ eclectic mix of the classic and cutting edge tailoring houses.

At 6.30pm our guests are invited to the Burlington Arcade – the world’s grandest and oldest covered shopping street built in 1819 – for a cocktail reception co-hosted by the London Evening Standard. The Savile Row Collins and Burlington Beadle will be mixed especially for the event by the Savoy American Bar head Erik Lorincz. Mr Lorincz’s Burlington Beadle cocktail is mixed in honour of the arcade’s guardians for whom Henry Poole & Co has made magnificent new liveries unveiled to the press this evening.

The gentlemen’s requisites houses in the Burlington Arcade will remain open for the cocktail reception. Shops participating include:

Crockett & Jones, Harrys of London, Jimmy Choo Men, Church’s, Thomas Lyte, Pickett, N.Peal, Berk Cashmere, House of Cashmere, Pen Friend, Penhaligon’s, The Vintage Rolex Watch Company.

The Woolmark Company’s Cool Wool Campaign
In April 2012, the Woolmark Company re-launched its successful Cool Wool Campaign to manufacturers and trade press at Premiere Vision. The bespoke tailors of Savile Row have long supported the use of lighter weight Merino wool for Spring/Summer suiting and are pleased to showcase garments made in Cool Wool and cut especially for the inaugural London Collections: Men.

History
Bespoke tailors have traded in the square mile surrounding Savile Row for over 300 years. The craftsmen and women who continue to make the finest gentlemen’s requisites by hand in Mayfair, Piccadilly and St. James’s first began colonising this quarter of London in 1666 after the Great Fire of London when commerce migrated from the City of London to surround the courts of Whitehall and St. James’s Palace. The Burlington Arcade is a jewel of Regency architecture and Mayfair’s most elegant, historic shopping arcade.
